Appointments - call   4095 2400

Please phone in to make an appointment (4095 2400). Our standard appointments are 15 minutes long though you can also book longer appointments for more complex issues or procedures (30, 45, or 60 minutes). If you are seeking an urgent appointment, our reception staff may need to triage your request so please answer their questions so they can help you. Emergencies or urgent issues are always given priority, so on occasion your allocated appointment time may not be when you are seen by the doctor; please be patient if you experience delays caused by emergencies.

On arrival, we appreciate patients advising reception of their arrival for their appointment. It is also a perfect opportunity to check that we have your most current contact details and personal information including any name changes, address, home and mobile phone numbers, smoking status, Medicare card details, et cetera.

Home visits

Home visits can be arranged in the Yungaburra area for patients of this practice. This service is for people whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery. These visits are at the doctor’s discretion.

Fees

Most fees are charged above the Medicare Benefits Schedule and subject to periodic review. Payment at the time of consultation is required and can be made by cash, cheque, credit card or EFTPOS. We are also able to arrange the rebate of your Medicare subsidy at the time of paying. The quickest and simplest way to do this is to leave your bank details on file with us or with Medicare and your rebate will be paid back into your bank account. If you have your Medicare card and a banking card linked to a cheque or savings account we can also rebate your account through our Mediclear terminal, which takes a few minutes to process.

Bulk Billing is available for aged pensioners in the Yungaburra area and for children under 13 years of age. A standard fee is $76. This generally attracts a Medicare subsidy of $37.05, leaving you only $38.95 out of pocket. Rebates for longer, more complex appointments (taking over 20 minutes) are higher. What is charged and the applicable rebate depends on the length of time taken and the complexity of the appointment. For example, a complex >30 minute appointment might be charged at $145 with a Medicare subsidy of $71.70, leaving an out of pocket expense of $73.30.

In some circumstances additional services, procedures or consumables may be used in your consultation. These may incur additional charges and these will be explained to you at the time. For example, should you require a lung function test (Spirometry), this will be added to your consultation fee and will also attract an additional Medicare subsidy to be paid back to you.

We expect all scripts, referrals and forms to be issued during a consultation with your doctor. There are certain extenuating circumstances where your doctor may do this upon a phone request. However, conditions apply and this will attract a charge that is not subsidised by Medicare. For example, a script renewal can be issued for some medications if you have been seen recently. It will cost $20.

Workcover or other special claims may be billed to the authority concerned on the understanding that should the payment be rejected you will be liable for settling the account.

Please feel free to ask our receptionists for more information on billing at any time, keeping in mind that it is the doctor who finalises the bill depending on what occurs in your consultation.
